Tube Strike - September 8, 2025
We have officially endured our first tube strike. And by "we" I mean Nick because I don't actually need to take the tube during the week unless we are going somewhere special. Nick does need to take it though, and it is normally the biggest piece of his commute to work in central London.
Leaving all of the underlying reasons for the strike out of this conversation (you can Google it if you are really interested), it was a huge pain the bum for commuters. It normally takes Nick 35 minutes to get to work and with the tube closed, it took him 1.5 hours using multiple buses. R had an appointment after school on Monday that is normally a quick and breezy one stop away on the tube and it took over an hour to get there - needless to say we were very late.
I guess I should disclose that we don't own a car yet, which maybe would have saved us some headache this week, but it wouldn't have helped Nick because you can't drive in central London anyway unless you are an authorized vehicle (yay for fighting pollution!).
That about sums it up. Tube strike = very long commutes and probably tired bus drivers.
